Simon Johnson, Debt Management Fund Manager
Simon brings a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of Corporate Affairs and Banking, fund management and debt structuring to the Carlton James team. He is currently Head of Debt Instruments at Rivers Capital Partners, where he manages the portfolio of the North-East Angel Fund (NEAF).
Prior to this, Simon worked with NEL Fund Managers Limited from 2003 – 2016. As Senior Investment Executive, he was responsible for the day to day operation of the Debt Management investment programme which is the mezzanine finance division of NEL.
He has led on debt based deals from current Finance for Business North East funds returning a cash multiple of 1.33 and attracting high levels of private finance into local companies as a result. Simon managed up to £100 million in 6 regional funds between 2003 and 2017, including liaising with investors such European Investment Bank, Regional Development Agencies and Barclays plc.
Simon is a Maths graduate and began his career at Barclays Bank where he specialised in Corporate Relationship Banking and Asset Backed Lending. He currently holds the Investment Management Certificate of the UK Society of Investment Professionals, the Institute of Directors Diploma in Company Direction and is an FSA Approved Person.
